Sedation Dentistry | Bellevue, WA – Comfortable Dental Care

Intravenous Sedation (“Twilight Sedation”) in Bellevue, WA

Our office offers patients the option of Intravenous Sedation, also referred to as Dental Intravenous Anesthesia or “Twilight Sedation,” for their dental treatment. This specialized service distinguishes our practice from others and provides a safe, comfortable dental experience.

Intravenous Sedation, or “twilight sleep,” helps you remain comfortable and calm during dental procedures. If desired, your treatment can be completed under intravenous sedation, allowing you to tolerate and not remember potentially uncomfortable procedures. IV sedation alleviates the anxiety associated with dental treatments. While you may not be fully asleep, you will feel calm and relaxed, drifting in and out of a “twilight sleep.”

We work with Elite Anesthesia and Washington Anesthesia Partners to provide in-office intravenous sedation, eliminating the need for a costly operating room or same-day surgical facility.

How is IV Sedation Administered?

A thin needle is inserted into a vein in your arm or hand, connected to an intravenous tube that delivers medication to help you relax. If a patient’s vein cannot sustain the needle for the entire procedure, the medication will still be administered, and the needle will be removed. Both approaches achieve the desired level of conscious sedation. Some patients may be asleep, while others drift in and out of sleep. Patients with medical conditions or specific medications may only be lightly sedated and remain awake.

The goal of IV sedation is to use minimal medication to complete your treatment. With IV sedation, a constant drip is maintained through the intravenous tube, and an antidote can be administered at any time to reverse the sedation effects if necessary. IV sedation is a very safe procedure.

In addition to IV sedation, our office offers other sedation options tailored to your needs. These include nitrous oxide sedation, oral sedation, or a combination of both. All sedation methods are administered and monitored by Elite Anesthesia and Washington Anesthesia Partners in the safety and comfort of our office environment.

Sedation dentistry is an excellent option for the elderly, the disabled, or anyone with dental anxiety in Bellevue and surrounding areas.

Sedation Dentistry for the Elderly

As we age, oral health becomes increasingly important. Periodontal disease can lead to bone and tooth loss, which impacts our ability to enjoy food, speak clearly, and maintain overall health. We are committed to providing elderly patients with compassionate care focused on comfort and well-being.

Elderly patients may avoid dental visits due to medical concerns, anxiety, transportation difficulties, or financial constraints. When oral health becomes unmanageable, fear and embarrassment can further delay seeking care. Sedation dentistry allows us to treat complex dental issues while the patient remains relaxed and unaware until waking up to an improved oral state.

If you or a loved one are seeking sedation dentistry for seniors in Bellevue, WA, our team is here to provide gentle and effective care.
